Boston Breakers get three first round picks as NWSL prepares 2017 college draft

January 5 – The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has released a list of 148 college players for its 2017 NWSL College Draft which will take place at the same time as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Los Angeles on January 12.

The 10 teams in the league have four rounds of 10 picks with the order for the first round being 1. Boston Breakers, 2. Western New York Flash, 3. Boston Breakers, 4. Sky Blue FC, 5. FC Kansas City, 6. Seattle Reign FC, 7. Western New York Flash, 8. Chicago Red Stars, 9. Boston Breakers, 10. Sky Blue FC.

The Portland Thorns, Houston Dash and Washington Spirit get their first picks in the second round, while the Orlando Pride enter with their picks in the third round.

Entering its fifth season in 2017, the NWSL is played April to October with a 20-game schedule. Portland Thorns topped the league table at the end of the season while Boston Breakers were bottom.
