Dortmund apologise for violent attacks on Leipzig fans

February 6 – Borussia Dortmund have issued an apology after fans of RB Leipzig were attacked before the two sides met on Saturday leaving several supporters injured including women and children.

During the attacks, four policemen are said to have been injured.

“Borussia Dortmund deeply regrets that there have been riots on the way of the fans coming from Leipzig,” said a statement. “BVB strongly condemns this violence and will deal with the incidents together with the police, and will therefore not issue a further statement at this time.”

In a counter-statement, Leipzig described the attacks as “shameful for whole of German football.”
