Tianjin TEDA push eco message with new club sponsor deals

March 8 – Signs that the focus of Chinese football money is not solely on acquiring European clubs and sports assets have been seen in Tianjin where Tianjin TEDA have announced new sponsorship deals with TEDA Holding and the Elion Group for the 2017 Chinese Super League season.

The Tianjn side is owned by TEDA Holding – it is not uncommon for Chinese clubs to have their owners’ names incorporated into their own. The club have unveiled the Tianjin Teda Greening Group Co. as a sponsor for the back of the new shirt for the 2017 season, while Tianjin Teda Development will sponsor 3D advertising pitch boards.

TEDA Holdings is a state-owned conglomerate whose initials TEDA stand for Tianjin Economic – Technological Development Area. Tianjin Teda Greening Group Co  is an important eco-green professional enterprise owned by Teda Investment Holding Co.

The club’s main shirt sponsor is another eco-based business, Elion Group, who as well as the first team, sponsor all the club’s youth teams.

Elion Group was founded in Kubiqi, one of China’s deserts, with a mission to prevent land degradation and transform desert back to cities. The company has subsequently developed into a national enterprise, aiming at restoring eco-environment, and has found international recognition as it has broadened its business into other environmental areas. In aims to be using 100% renewable energy by 2030.

Tianjin TEDA play at the 54,696 capacity Tianjin Olympic Centre Stadium. Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel is their big name overseas player.
