October 10 – Spain’s LaLiga has added another top tier sponsor partner for the Spanish market. El Corte Inglés has signed a one-year deal for LaLiga’s top two divisions.
The department store’s Viajes El Corte Inglés brand becomes La Liga’s official travel agency with immediate effect in a deal that will see the brand have exposure at more than 700 matches this season.
El Corte Inglés will run a number of promotions across its stores as well as receiving exposure across LaLiga’s media.
Javier Tebas (pictured right), president of La Liga, said: “This union with one of the most important national brands is a demonstration that the value of La Liga continues to grow, as well as our effort to be linked to brands which offer fans of Spanish football a 360-degree experience.”
The sponsorship will also cover LaLiga Genuine, for teams of the DI group (people with intellectual disabilities).
Dimas Gimeno (pictured left), president of El Corte Inglés, said: “It is a pleasure for El Corte Inglés to sponsor a sports competition that has a long history and relationship with society. El Corte Inglés and La Liga share the values of teamwork, effort and self-improvement.”
No value was put on the deal.
