Honduras coach critical of 5-day Aussie turnaround for final World Cup qualifier

October 17 – The coach of Honduras has accused FIFA of being “inhumane” for scheduling the two legs of the World Cup playoff against Australia within five days of each other.

The first leg is slated for Central America on November 10, with the second leg in Sydney five days later but Jorge Luis Pinto says that’s ridiculous especially since there are no direct flights from between the two countries.

“It’s inhumane of FIFA to put the dates so close with such a long trip in between them,” Pinto said in quotes that were widely reported in Honduras.

However, Pinto said his team will have a slight advantage in playing the first match at home.

“We don’t have to do two trips that could be harmful to us. On the other hand, Australia have to come here and play the game and then go home and that’s more tiring.”
