FA chief Clarke builds Middle Eastern links with WAFF meet and Zaatari camp visit

January 16 – Having signed a co-operation agreed with Qatari football, the charm offensive by English FA chairman Greg Clarke (pictured) across international stakeholders has moved on to Jordan where he visited the famed Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in the north of the country.

Clarke attended one of the football training sessions organised daily by the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), the non-profit youth commission founded and chaired by Jordanian FA boss Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein.

The AFDP programme organises football leagues for over 5,000 boys and girls of all age groups, taking place at the full size artificial grass football field which was inaugurated in September 2017 .

Clarke also met members of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), building a number of bridges as the FA contemplates whether to bid for the 2030 World Cup.
