February 23 – Here we go again. You can count on one hand the countries where instances of racism in European football are still prevelant and Italy is one of them.

Borussia Dortmund’s on-loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi says he was subject to racist chants from Atalanta fans during a Europa League game on Thursday.

The Belgium international, tweeted: “2018 and still racists monkey noises in the stands … really?!”

Dortmund advanced to the round of 16 by drawing 1-1 to beat Atalanta 4-3 on aggregate. Batshuayi scored twice in the first leg of the tie.

Atalanta were handed a one-game stand closure – suspended for a year – last month after fans made racist chants at Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
