PSG takes next level blockchain step with partnership

September 11 – Blockchain platform have become Paris Saint-Germain’s Official Branded Cryptocurrency Partner and will work alongside the club to develop a blockchain strategy that the company says will bring in the next generation of fan engagement programmes.

At the core of the Socios proposition is a tokenised voting platform driven by blockchain technology. Fans buy into the cryptocurrency (Fan Tokenisation Offering – FTO), giving them branded club tokens and an elite fan status via unique rewards and experiences associated. At the centre of these privileges are voting rights in certain club decisions.

The Paris Saint-Germain fan token will be listed on the platform and will allow fans to engage with the club through mobile voting and polling platforms. Token transactions will be fully digital, secure, transparent and connected to the fan experience.

Detail of voting rights and what fans will be able to vote on have yet to be released, but PSG and Socios say that the partnership is part of a broader strategy to integrate blockchain technology to enhance the club’s relationship with fans and business operations.

PSG is the first European club to commit to Socios’ blockchain platform.
