Foul-mouthed Mourinho charged by FA for abusive language

October 17 – As if any extra spice were needed when Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho returns to his former club Chelsea for a crunch fixture this coming weekend, Mourinho has been charged over comments he made in Portuguese to a television camera after his side’s recent win over Newcastle.

Mourinho faces the possibility of a touchline ban after being charged for using foul language moments after United’s 3-2 come-from-behind victory.

The Football Association, which apparently used a lip-reader, has determined the comments constituted “abusive, insulting or improper language”.

The match had been billed as critical to Mourinho’s future at the club. He has been under pressure all season for failing to get the most out of United’s multi-million pound squad which dwarfs that of most other clubs.

He has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
