Atlanta’s MLS Cup win over Portland breaks Fox streaming records

December 12 – Atlanta United’s 2-0 win over Portland Timbers at the weekend is the most watched MLS Cup since 1997.

Fox Sports drew 1,563,000 viewers, according to Nielsen. Viewership was up 91% over last year’s match.

Top five markets US TV markets for the final were Atlanta (11.5), Portland (7.3), Milwaukee (2.2), West Palm Beach (1.9) and Austin (1.5).

The match also broke streaming records on Fox, pulling in an average minute audience of 23,212, and ranking as Fox Sports’ most streamed MLS event ever.

Atlanta United are only in their second year in the MLS but have already been ranked as the league’s most valuable team. Atlanta are the13th different team to win the MLS Cup in 23 seasons of competition.
