Spurs fans caned as Harry injured and Son rises at Asian Cup

January 16 – In a devastating  blow to his club Tottenham Hotspur, England captain Harry Kane has been sidelined until early March with yet  another ankle ligament injury.

Kane was injured in the final few seconds of Sunday’s defeat 1-0 by Manchester United at Wembley and will miss the high-flying club’s most critical month of the season including both legs of the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, the League Cup semi-final second leg with Chelsea and a host of other key games.

Kane has scored 21 goals in 36 games in all competitions this season and his absence could not have come as a worse time especially with Son Heung-min, with whom Kane has scored almost 50% of Tottenham’s goals this season, on Asian Cup duty for South Korea.

This is the third season in a row in which Kane has suffered ankle trouble and has led to speculation that injury-ravaged Tottenham will be forced into the January transfer market for a squad-improving forward or attacking midfielder.
