Ronaldo’s big day hat-trick celebration catches UEFA’s attention

March 19 – Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with improper conduct by UEFA for the way he celebrated Juventus’  win over Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Portuguese super star  appeared to mimic Atletico boss Diego Simeone’s own celebrations from the first leg when Simeone turned to fans and grabbed his crotch during his side’s 2-0 victory for which the 48-year-old was fined  for acting in an ‘obscene’ manner.

Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick in the return leg as Juventus spectacularly overturned the deficit and won 3-0, celebrated with a similar gesture.

European football’s governing body said Ronaldo’s case will be dealt with by its Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body at its next meeting on Thursday.

If he is banned, he is likely to  miss the first leg of Juventus’ quarterfinal tie against Ajax on April 10. The return fixture takes place in Turin on April 16.
