March 19 – The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has teamed up with social media platform Twitter in a broadcast deal for the Brazilian women’s top flight, the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino.
Last weekend Ponte Preta vs Corinthians was the first match to be streamed on Twitter. The contract gives Twitter rights to the league phase, as well as the knockout stages of the CBF expanded format of the Brazilian women’s topflight. This season that will add up to 134 games.
“With this partnership, we bring to our users and advertisers the possibility to see and value women’s sport. More than that, we are very happy to support the sport, as a platform that gives women’s football the space it deserves,” said director of sports partnerships for Twitter for Latin America Pitter Rodriguez.
“Twitter is a platform that is always at the side of sport and football,” said CBF director of competitions Manoel Flores. “Watching it betting on women, and given the visibility that the platform can give, fills us with hope for the future of the league.”
