Man Utd line up Spurs and Inter Milan for their Asian Summer travelogue

March 28 – Manchester teams will be battling it out pre-season in Asia but they won’t be playing each other.

With Man City having been announced as the headline act for the Premier League Asia Trophy tournament in China, United have unveiled their own schedule that will take them to the Singapore and China.

United will take on Inter Milan at the National Stadium Singapore on July 20, before travelling to Shanghai to face Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur at the Hongkou Stadium on July 25.

These games will be played as part of Relevant Sports’ International Champions Cup – though it is not clear yet if United will be a Champion of anything yet this season.

Man Utd had already announced two games in Australia as part of their Tour 2019, playing on July 13 against Perth Glory and July 17 against Leeds United – both games at the Optus Stadium, Perth.

Manchester United’s executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, said: “These games, and the tour overall, will not only assist in our pre-season preparations, but also provide entertaining football and an opportunity to interact with our loyal fans in Australasia and Asia. This is will be our third visit to Singapore and our fifteenth pre-season visit to China and we’re excited to be returning to both countries to play against top-class opposition there.”

All Tour 2019 games will be shown live on MUTV and the Manchester United Official App.

Back on terra firma in the UK, Man Utd will also have a pre-season game against AC Milan on August 3 at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff – presumably fulfilling the Welsh leg of their global jaunt.
