Drogba, now special advisor to Ahmad, considers run at Ivory Coast FA presidency

August 8 – Former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba, who last month joined the African Football Confederation (CAF) as one of two special advisors to Ahmad Ahmad, is weighing up whether to run for president of his national federation according to l’Equipe.

The role is currently occupied by Augustin Sidy Diallo with elections due in November.

Drogba, who retired from playing late last year after two spells at Chelsea, scored 65 times in 105 caps for the Ivory Coast and spent the last 18 months of his career with US side Phoenix Rising.

Drogba is currently a member of the executive committee of Ivorian outfit Williamsville Athletic Club and is apparently seriously considering challenging Diallo.
