November 13 – The schedule and teams for the first-ever AFC Women’s Club Championship 2019, to be played in Yongin City, Korea Republic, from November 26 – 30, has been released.
The four-team competition will be played as group competition with the group winner being crowned AFC Women’s Champions. Match days will be played as double headers on November 26, 28 and 30.
Australia’s Melbourne Victory, Nippon TV Beleza from Japan, China PR’s Jiangsu Suning Ladies Football Club and Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels from South Korea are the four competing teams.
Melbourne Victory and the host nation’s Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels – who have won the last six WK League national titles – will be the showcase game on opening night.
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “Women’s football has always been an integral area of development for the AFC and the remarkable success of our teams underlines the incredible strides Asia continues to make in women’s football globally.
“Competitions is one of the major drivers of development and the Women’s Club Championship reinforces our commitment to further strengthen the foundations for the women’s game in Asia to scale even greater heights.”
