Solskjaer speculation puts Pochettino back in frame to takeover at Man Utd

October 6 – The transfer window may have slammed shut but the biggest deal of all could involve a possible new manager at Manchester United.

According to unconfirmed English press reports, United have contacted Mauricio Pochettino, who took Tottenham Hotspur to the 2019 Champions League final, about potentially replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the hot seat at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were hammered 6-1, ironically by Spurs, on Sunday which has led to all manner of speculation about Solskjaer’s future at the club.

Pochettino has been out of a job since being sacked by Spurs 11 months ago but such is his standing in the game, coveted by a raft of clubs, he is able to bide his time and pick and choose.

According to one British tabloid, “senior figures” at Old Trafford have contacted Pochettino’s representatives and are asking whether he would be interested in the role.

This is not the first time Pochettino has been reportedly linked with United. He was apparently looked at as a replacement for, ironically, Mourinho himself when the Portuguese fell out of favour during his time at Old Trafford.
