Madagascar FA boss Rabekoto goes missing with €25m

October 8 – The president of Madagascar’s football federation, Raoul Rabekoto, is reportedly still missing and under an international arrest warrant for allegedly embezzling €25 million.

French reports claim the money was taken from the country’s National Social Security Fund when Rabekoto was its director general between 2009 and 2018.

Earlier this year Rabekoto, who hails from the same country as under-fire African Football Confederation chief Ahmad Ahmad, was reported to have  disappeared just as he was being investigated for corruption.

There have been conflicting rumours about his whereabouts, with some claiming he has fled to Europe, probably either in France  or Switzerland, via La Reunion.

Le Monde claims that Rabekoto recently took part in a video-conference organized by FIFA which apparently is not willing to get involved in what it views as a corruption scandal that has nothing to do with football.
