Frappart breaks down more barriers with Juve vs Dynamo Kiev appointment

December 1 – Stephanie Frappart breaks more new ground on Wednesday when she becomes the first woman to referee a men’s Champions League game.

Frappart, who officiated in the Liverpool-Chelsea Super Cup fixture in 2019, will take charge of Juventus vs Dynamo Kiev.

The first female referee to take charge of a French Ligue 1 match when Amiens played Strasbourg in April last year, she says she is unfazed about Wednesday’s challenge having already overseen her first Europa League game in October when Leicester City hosted Zorya Luhansk.

“I think we’re the same,” said Frappart, the woman in the middle at last year’s Women’s World Cup final, when asked about the extra scrutiny that might be placed on her.

“We have to prove technically and tactically [we’re ready]. I’m not afraid about that. Nothing changes about me.”
