Haaland could break Neymar’s €222m record, Man Utd’s Fernandes puts on €20m of value

December 2 – Norwegian Erling Haaland’s goals for Borussia Dortmund have propelled him to the top of a table of €80 million+ footballers with the fastest increasing transfer valuations. He is followed by Manchester United’s mercurial Bruno Fernandes.

The valuations, by the CIES Football Observatory, puts Haaland at €155 million compared to €120 million at the end of October – an increase of €35 million.

“If the reported €75 million release clause valid from 2022 really exists (for Haaland), Borussia Dortmund will be certainly tempted to transfer him at a much higher price at the end of the current season. If he continues to score so many goals and perform at such a great level, once the COVID-19 pandemic is over, he could break the €222 million transfer fee record currently held by Neymar,” say the CIES report authors.

Seven of the top ten players increasing their value fastest (and priced in the over €80 million category), play in Premier League clubs. Three of them – Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and Ferran Torres – are at Manchester City.

In the players increasing value fastest in the €40-80 million ranking, Dortmund again have the top player with fast emerging US national team player Giovanni Reyna. Valued at €11.7 million at the end of October, the 18-year-old’s value had rocketed up €34.4 million to €46.1 million. By the end of November.
