Clarke and Howe favourites for Celtic hot seat vacated by Lennon

February 25 – Scotland national manager Scotland manager Steve Clarke and former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe are reported to have emerged as early favourites to replace Neil Lennon, who resigned on Tuesday as Celtic manager after a disastrous season in charge.

Clarke is the bookies’ favourite to step in after Lennon called time on his second stint at the club which sits 18 points behind rivals Rangers and will miss out on a 10th-straight league title.

Veteran Cettic skipper Scott Brown pulled no punches as he admitted his squad let Lennon down on the pitch.

“It’s a sad day to see him leave but it’s because we’ve not been playing as well as we can. It’s not been a great season to go down in our history books, but it’s one that we’ve got to take on the chin.”
