European Leagues beefs up management board

March 30 – The European Leagues, the umbrella body serving 35 competitions in 30 countries, has decided not to replace outgoing president Lars-Christer Olsson and instead to restructure its senior management.

Olsson is stepping down due to retirement and has been named the organisation’s first Honorary President.

The newly elected Board of Directors met Tuesday for its constitution meeting and approved the creation of a new structure with the appointment of a Management Board to replace the President.

The four members are Javier Tebas (Spain), Mathieu Moreuil (England),  Claus Thomsen (Denmark) and Claudius Schäfer (Swtzerland)

With Olsson’s departure, one of the newly created board’s first tasks will be to appoint the European Leagues’ representative on the UEFA Executive Committee.
