Johansen’s nemesis Michael cleared by CAS to run in Sierra Leone elections

June 4 – Rodney Michael, who waged a long-running battle with the outgoing Sierra Leone FA president Isha Johansen for control of the federation, has been cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to run in Saturday’s election.

Michael (pictured) went to CAS after theSLFA Electoral Appeals Committee dismissed his appeal against a previous decision to disqualify him on procedural grounds.

Earlier this week Johansen announced that she was quitting after eight years to concentrate on her role as a member of the FIFA Council.

That left Sadick Deen-Nyarkoh, Thomas Daddy Brima and Michael to contest the presidency.

A CAS statement said “there was no concrete evidence that Rodney Michael was in breach of the ethics regulations”
