beIN Sports renews UEFA club championships in 7 countries in Asia until 2024

June 23– Having secured rights for UEFA’s prime club competitions across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in a $600 million deal earlier this month,beIN Media Group has expanded its partnership with UEFA by securing rights to seven further countries in Asia.

The three-year deal running through to the end of the 2023-24 season will see beIN’s flagship network in Asia, renew exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and UEFA Youth League for Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.

For the first time the broadcast deal includes the newly created Europa Conference League and the Youth League, giving beIN substantially more broadcast hours and a greater spectrum of club content.

Earlier this monthbeIN Sports added the UEFA Women’s Champions League in MENA to its rights packages, making it the centre-piece of beIN’s ‘beINSPIRED’ broadcast output. UEFA markets its women’s competitions separate to it men’s competitions and no deal has been secured for the Women’s Champions League to date.

Crucial to beIN’s rights renewals processes recently has been a commitment from rights owners to anti-piracy measures. A beIN statement said “the two partners will also continue their close partnership and alliance on anti-piracy measures in countries and regions all around the world.”

Mike Kerr, Managing Director at beIN Asia Pacific, said: “beIN is delighted to renew our valued relationship with UEFA as their club competitions broadcast partner in Asia, complementing our existing rights portfolio of a wide range of premium sports. As the leading pan-regional sports broadcaster in the region, we aim to work alongside our key affiliate partners to grow audiences and provide a compelling sports experience across all screens.”
