July 27 – World federation FIFA has awarded the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Women’s World Cup TV rights to New World TV in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa.

The broadcast deal, which also includes rights to the 2021 Arab Cup, the 2023 Beach Soccer World Cup and FIFA’s youth tournaments, covers 19 territories: Benin, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles and Togo.

“New World TV is delighted to partner with FIFA and through our various platforms and commercial offers, people in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa will be able to access and experience the unique emotions that come with football,” said New World TV general manager Nimonka Kolani.

New World TV will broadcast all matches of both flagship tournaments, with the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand featuring 24 teams for the first time. Next year, the men’s World Cup will be staged in the traditional 32-team format before the tournament format expands to 48 participants in 2026.
