Nexen Tire renew with Man City but drop sleeve patch sponsorship

May 12 – Korean tyre giant Nexen Tire has renewed their long running sponsorship of Manchester City but will no longer have the club’s sleeve patch sponsorship position from the end of this season.

Nexen first began their Man City sponsorship in 2015 and in 2017 were the first sponsor to take the newly created short sleeve advertising position. This is the third renewal of their sponsorship.

Man City have won 12 trophies during Nexen’s sponsorship, including four Premier League titles.

Ferran Soriano (pictured left), Chief Executive Officer at City Football Group, said: “NEXEN TIRE has been part of the City family for along time and this new extension will take us to more than a decade of partnership… We want to thank Nexen for theircontinued commitment, support and inspiration and we are looking forward to working together throughout the next term, for more innovation and celebrations.”

Nexen has been a sponsor of both the men’s and women’s teams as well as the title sponsor of the Manchester City Cup, a youth tournament, played in the US. Nexen has been involved in launching esports games and in Cityzens Giving community projects.

Going forward the focus of Nexen’s sponsorship will be on brand identity around their ‘We Got You’ tagline, which reflectstheir commitment to always be by the side of customers, fans and partners. They will do this via increased digital activations,creative content and localisation of the content in priority markets.

No value was given for what the club said was a ‘multi-year’ sponsorship.

A replacement sleeve sponsor is to be announced.
