FIFA slaps transfer ban on Botev Vratasa for failing to pay Brambilla’s wages

December 19 – Bulgaria’s top tier clubs continue to struggle with financial issues with Botev Vratsa being the latest to break financial rules. FIFA have imposed a transfer ban on the club over its failure to pay the wages of former player, Brazilian Lucas Brambilla.

The club confirmed the sanction, but said that it is a “small amount” that will be paid in a timely manner and will not prevent the club from signing new players in the winter transfer window.

Brambilla played for Botev Vratsa last season only managed to feature in six matches. He subsequently transferred to Cyprus’ Othellos Athienou.

“Botev’s management would like to clarify the information related to the ban imposed by FIFA on the carding of new players during the winter transfer window,” said a club statement.

“We would like to inform you that there has indeed been such a restriction imposed, which is related to a minimum amount due to ex-footballer Lucas Brambilla, who made 6 appearances for Botev’s team last season.

“We assure you that in the shortest possible time, the obligation will be cleared and Botev will have no problems in registering new players during the winter transfer window”, the club said in an official statement.”

Botev Vratsa is currently second from bottom of Bulgaria’s top tier efbet Liga.
