April 1 – India’s football boss Kalyan Chaubey has been accused of harassment, allegations the All India Football Federation (AIFF) president has rejected.
In a lengthy letter to the FIFA Ethics Committee, seen by Inside World Football, Valanka Alemao detailed an executive committee of the Indian FA (AIFF) late last month where “the President made remarks against me which were unnecessary and disrespectful”.
“He along with the DSG raised his tone time and again beyond an acceptable decibel with the intention to intimidate me. Throughout the course of the meeting, I was consistently targeted,” she said.
“They heckled and harassed me,” she added.
Head of the AIFF Women’s Committee, Alemao is the CEO of Churchill Brothers, a club in Goa. She also serves on FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Committee.
She wrote: “As an executive committee member, I have the power and responsibility to enquire about important agreements, provide feedback and voice my dissent on decisions that are unconstitutional and illegal.”
She highlighted the “the right to seek details on the operations of the federation, including the details on the agreement with Star Cement and Dream Sports Foundation”, the appointments of two members to the AIFF Ethics and Dispute Resolution Committee without an overview of their eligibility, and the cancellation of a sponsorship deal with Coca Cola.
Alemao had previously written about a “series of blunders” during India’s Women’s Asian Cup campaign in Australia, highlighting concerns from
In a statement, the AIFF rejected Alemao’s claims and said that Alemao and her family had pushed for Churchill Brothers’ inclusion in the Indian Super League through backdoor channels.
The AIFF spoke of “sustained pressure” by the Alemao family and that following an emergency executive committee decision to reject the proposal to include Churchill Brother, the Alemaos filed legal petitions at the Delhi high court.
