April 9 – Going into the quarter final round Concacaf Champions Cup holders Cruz Azul had reclaimed the top spot in the latest Concacaf Club Rankings (CCR).
A first leg quarter final loss to LAFC may shake the top of the ranking up again, especially with second placed Toluca beating Seattle in their first leg quarter final tie. Next week’s second round ties will decide bragging rights.
Seven of the eight top ranked clubs are competing in the quarter finals. Inter Miami CF (1,238), knocked out by Nashville in the round of 16, dropped four places to seventh in the ranking.
Nashville SC (1,227) had the biggest rise up the ranking, moving up seven placed to eighth. CD Guadalajara (1,220) entered the top ten, in ninth place, respectively, while Columbus Crew (1,219) dropped two spots to tenth.
At the top Cruz Azul lead (1,271), followed by Toluca FC (1,265) and Seattle Sounders FC (1,254) who surged up six spots into the top three.
Los Angeles FC (1,251) and Club América (1,247) climbed two spots each after winning their Round of 16 matchups to follow in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Tigres UANL (1,239) fell one place and is sixth.
The Concacaf Club Rankings Index grades all clubs and leagues across the confederation. Teams gain points for results in official domestic league matches, regional cup matches, and Concacaf Champions Cup play.
Central American club ranking
Three-time Concacaf Central American Cup champions LD Alajuelense (1,156) from Costa Rica retained their place as the top Central American club, but Honduras’ CD Olimpia (1,147) ave closed the gap in second place.
Deportivo Saprissa (1,143), CS Herediano (1,140), and CSD Municipal (1,130) close out the top five.
Caribbean club ranking
Violette FC (1,083) remains in first place among Caribbean clubs, followed by reigning Concacaf Caribbean Cup winners Mount Pleasant FA (1,065).
Cibao FC (1,057), Defence Force FC (1,051), and SV Robinhood (1,046) round out an unchanged top five.
