The retractable playing field is an engineering marvel. This single tray of natural grass, spanning 234 feet wide and 403 feet long, moves effortlessly on 546 steel wheels along 13 tracks. In just 70 minutes, it glides in or out of the stadium, offering a seamless transition for various events. Crafted from Tifway 419 grass, it replicates the feel of traditional turf and enjoys ample sun exposure when parked outside, ensuring optimal conditions. This remarkable versatility makes it a standout feature in the sports venue landscape.

In the summer of 2024, State Farm Stadium played a pivotal role in the CONMEBOL Copa América, one of South America’s most prestigious football tournaments. The stadium hosted three matches, including Colombia’s commanding 3-0 victory over Costa Rica on June 28, which propelled them into the quarterfinals. The match was attended by over 27,000 fans, with Colombia’s Davinson Sánchez and Jhon Córdoba scoring decisive goals in the second half .

The stadium also witnessed a goalless draw between Mexico and Ecuador on June 30, followed by Colombia’s dominant 5-0 win against Panama in the quarterfinals on July 6 .

SheBelieves Cup 2025: Showcasing Women’s Soccer Excellence

Continuing its legacy, State Farm Stadium is set to host two exciting matchups during the 2025 SheBelieves Cup on February 23. The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) will face Australia, while Canada will take on Brazil. This tournament features top-ranked teams, including the USWNT, Japan, Australia, and Colombia, and serves as a critical preparation for the upcoming World Cup .

Beyond soccer, it has hosted three Super Bowls (2008, 2015, and 2023), numerous NFL games, and major concerts, including performances by the Rolling Stones and Monster Jam events in 2024 .
