Concacaf League start pushed back as nations stagger return to club competitions

June 24 – Concacaf has postponed the start of its 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League, which was scheduled to begin on July 28.
The 22-team competition is the second tier of the confederation’s club competitions but qualifies six teams for the Concacaf Champions League.

US Women told $66m pay appeal must wait until trial on unequal conditions is complete

June 15 – US president Donald Trump has vowed to give up watching football after the US Soccer Federation adopted a new policy that rescinds a requirement for players to stand during the national anthem.

MLS agrees player pay deal to set up restart with made-for-TV Orlando special

June 4 – Major League Soccer (MLS) and its players’ union (MLSPA) have reached agreement on a re-negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement that will enable the season to restart with a new competition format to be played in Orlando, Florida.

May 28 – While the women’s professional game will not return in England this season, in the US is again taking the lead in the women’s game with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announcing that the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup will kick off in Utah, June 27.

Montagliani puts focus on health first, but 2021 summer tournaments could see fans in stadia

May 21 – Concacaf President and FIFA Vice-President Victor Montagliani has said that the biggest challenge facing federations is not the financial costs being faced right now but the costs of ensuring compliance with health measures in the future. He also felt that it was unlikely to see a return of fans to international matches before the major tournaments in 2021.
