El Salvador bans fans for a year over Alianza stadium disaster

May 24 – The El Salvadorian football federation (FESFUT) has moved quickly to sanction the Alianza club after the crowd surge that crushed fans causing 12 deaths and more than 500 others needing medical attention.

May 22 – The acquisition of the new San Diego franchise in the MLS by an ownership group led by Mohamed Mansour has already been followed up with a statement of business intent with a deal announced with Elite Performance Partners (EPP) – a high-performance business that supports teams in elite sport.

St Louis City and FC Dallas to finish off MLS tie 29 days after lightening stopped play

May 12 – St. Louis City will have to return to Frisco on June 7 to complete the last 40 minutes of the MLS match against FC Dallas that was suspend May 6 after lightening struck in Frisco and around the Toyota Stadium.

Edwards to leave USL after a decade building the US’s multi-tier national league business

April 28 – USL president Jake Edwards (pictured) is leaving the organisation after 10-years with the US league body, eight as president. He is being replaced with two internal promotions. Jeremy Alumbaugh becomes USL Championship President and Lee O’Neill takes over as USL League One President.

Concacaf rules Haitian clubs out of regional club competitions for next season

April 26 – While Haiti’s women’s national team will compete at the World Cup in Australia/New Zealand this summer and the men’s team will play at the 2023 Gold Cup in the US, Haitian clubs will not compete in Concacaf’s club competitions in the 2023/24 season.
