Real Madrid close to walk off after Vinícius target of Prestianni’s alleged ‘monkey’ abuse

February 18 – Vinícius Júnior said “racists are, above all, cowards who need to hide behind their shirts to show how weak they are,” as he criticised the referee’s failure to respond after he was allegedly abused by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni during Real Madrid’s 1–0 victory in the Champions League.

February 18 – A new cross-organisation partnership, comprised of the English football authorities, the UK Football Policing Unit and regulator Ofcom, has been launched to strengthen efforts to combat online abuse in football and protect the players.
