April 3 – The Iranian Olympic Committee has called on Muslim states around the world to protest to FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after the country’s women’s football team were banned were from wearing the hijab at this year’s inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

December 3 – Players like Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney (pictured) will be eligible to play at London 2012 after FIFA today decided to retain its current under-23 status plus three over-age players at the Olympics.
November 27 – UEFA have unanimously backed a proposal to limit participation in future Olympic Games to players under the age of 21 which, if adopted, would keep players like Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi (pictured) out of the London 2012 Games.
OCTOBER 17 – SCOTLAND’S players should not be forced to miss out on the opportunity of playing football in the 2012 Olympics, David Davies (pictured), the former executive director of the Football Association, said today.
