Swiss prosecutor considers appealing Al-Khelaifi and Valcke judgements

January 26 – Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi (pictured) and former FIFA number two Jérôme Valcke will find out imminently whether Swiss prosecutors are to appeal against them both being acquitted of criminal misconduct, according to French media.

January 20 – As anticipated, Atlético Madrid have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend the ban on their English international Kieran Trippier imposed by his national federation for breaching betting rules.

FIFA upholds Trippier betting ban but CAS appeal could keep him in play

January 19 – In the latest twist of a case viewed by many as a key test of FIFA’s mettle, football’s world governing body has taken a significant stance against footballers breaching betting rules by upholding a 10-week global ban on England international  Kieran Trippier and dismissing an appeal by his club, Atletico Madrid.

Swiss court rules FIFA out of access to Infantino criminal investigation case files

January 13 – Gianni Infantino has suffered a potentially significant setback in his bid to clear his name over alleged criminal misconduct after the Swiss Federal Criminal Court barred FIFA from being involved in ongoing proceedings over those infamous unrecorded dealings between Infantino and former attorney general Michael Lauber.

January 8 – Real Madrid and former French international forward Karim Benzema will face trial for his alleged involvement in the attempted sex-tape blackmail of former teammate Mathieu Valbuena, prosecutors in Versailles have finally confirmed several years after the story broke.

Ukraine appeal to CAS over covid 3-pointer that forced relegation

December 14 – Ukraine have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against UEFA’s decision to award Switzerland a 3-0 walkover win in last month’s Nations League clash between the sides as a result of positive Covid-19 tests in the Ukrainian camp.
