August 25 – The noose is beginning to tighten around the neck of outgoing Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber (pictured) which could potentially have significant consequences for FIFA president Gianni Infantino amid the ongoing saga of those infamous undocumented meetings between the pair.

Banned Afghan FA rapist Keram escapes capture as special forces raid his home

August 25 – The disgraced former president of the Afghanistan Football Federation, Keramuddin Keram (pictured), has escaped arrest in his home country after special forces failed to capture him. Keram is accused of rape and sexual abuse of members of the Afghani women’s national team.

FIFA closes ranks. Ethics boss Rojas dismisses Infantino’s Swiss criminal probe as bogus

August 19 – FIFA’s ethics body today stood firm behind Gianni Infantino in the wake of the much-publicised Swiss criminal investigation into his conduct, refusing to suspend him by arguing the allegations did not “ justify the adoption of any kind of measure”, yet seriously calling into question its credibility and so-called independence.

August 20 – FIFA has suspended two more Haitian football officials and has extended a 90-day provisional ban meted out to federation (FHF) president Yves Jean-Bart while it investigates allegations of teenage girls being sexually abused at the national training centre, built with a FIFA grant.
