Report finds 43% of players in EPL racially abused on social media

October 22 – A new report into the extent to which professional footballers are attacked online has thrown up damning and disturbing findings, with 43% of English Premier League players surveyed having experienced “targeted racist abuse”.

October 20 – Spanish prosecutors have requested a jail sentence of 21 and a half years and a €105 million fine for the president of tier two Las Palmas, Miguel Ángel Ramírez.

Germany’s DFB counters fraud claim saying a deal had already been done with tax office

October 16 – The German football federation (DFB) has claimed that it has already paid 2019 taxes related to advertising income after reaching an agreement with tax authorities. Six DFB officials are currently under investigation for tax evasion.

October 15 – Conmebol is to receive a windfall $37 million from the Swiss bank accounts of Nicolas Leoz and Eduardo Deluca after the Swiss attorney general stated that “the forfeited funds will be returned directly”.

October 1 – Former US international star Landon Donovan, who has moved into coaching with San Diego Loyal, forfeited the club’s second-tier match on Wednesday in protest against an alleged homophobic slur against at one of his players.
