January 28 – A survey of football fans has found that generally they think agents are overpaid, that leagues are too weighted towards so-called big teams, that there are too many national team matches but not too many club games, and that it costs too much to watch whether via pay TV or in stadia.

November 12 – The annual player demographic census by the CIES Football Observatory shows the immediate impact the coronavirus pandemic has had in slowing down the movement of players and “strengthening” the gaps between the elite clubs and league and the rest.

September 29 – Cristiano Ronaldo, aged 35, tops a ranking of the world’s most effective strikers, followed by Lazio’s Immobile, Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski, Dortmund’s Erling Haland and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.
