April 28 – Broadcaster Premier Sports has added the title sponsorship of the Scottish League Cup to its exclusive broadcast rights deal in an agreement that will run for at least two years and see the knockout competition renamed the Premier Sports Cup.
July 6 – Fixtures have been announced for the new Scottish season due to begin on August 2 at a time when most other leagues are having a break.

June 16 – Scottish professional football has been plunged into yet more disarray after Heart of Midlothian, arguably the country’s biggest club after Celtic and Rangers, announced it was taking legal action following relegation from the top flight because of the curtailed season.
May 29 – Scotland’s 42 senior clubs are in discussions about a temporary revamp that envisages three enlarged divisions of 14 clubs each for the next two years to replace the current 12-10-10-10 version.
May 18 – After weeks of turmoil, claim and counter-claim, Celtic have been crowned Scottish champions for the ninth season in a row after the Scottish Professional Football League opted to curtail the current league season despite considerable opposition – joining the likes of France, Holland and Belgium in halting fixtures because of Covid-19.
April 24 – Scotland looks set to become one of the first leagues to benefit from UEFA’s agreement to allow for special cases in ending domestic seasons prematurely.
April 16 – The second, third and fourth tiers of Scottish football have all ended their seasons with Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers declared champions.
May 24 – Celtic top the list of interim payouts being made to clubs by the Scotland Professional Football League (SPFL). At £2 million it is almost double the next highest payment of £1.1 million to cross-Glasgow rivals Rangers.
November 20 – The Scottish Professional Football League has officially confirmed a series of broadcast deals following an auction process which sees Sky Sports become the lead broadcaster of the SPL from 2020 and Premier Sports the Betfred Cup.
November 15 – Scottish football has secured a second key TV rights deal following on from news last week that the SPFL was closing in on a £100 million three-year deal with Sky.
October 22 – Bookmaker Betfred has agreed a one-year extension to its title sponsorship of the Scottish League Cup taking the company through to the end of the 2019/20 season.
August 31 – Infront has picked up the international media rights for the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) in a multi-season deal that covers all four leagues, the IRN-BRU Cup and the Betfred Cup.
April 5 – The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) has allocated more than £23.7million in total prize money to its 42 member clubs for the 2017/18 season. This is an increase of £800,000 on last season’s prize fund of £22.9million.
January 24 – Scottish Premier League club Aberdeen look to be getting closer to approval for a new £50 million stadium and training complex to be built in the Kingsford area of the city.
January 12 – While betting company sponsorship of clubs and gambling advertising targeted at football fans on mainstream media in England has come under increasing regulatory focus in England, in Scotland there appear to be fewer concerns.
