July 7 – CONCACAF have announced that all tickets have been sold for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader in Dallas this evening which kicks off at the 20,500 capacity Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
The 13th edition of CONCACAF’s premier national team tournament begins with Group A matches between Panama and Haiti at 6pm CT, followed by USA versus Honduras at 8:30pm..
The tournament is being televised in the USA on Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, UniMás, UDN, and can be heard on the Fútbol de Primera radio network. Worldwide the tournament is being aired by numerous channels, including Gol TV in Latin America, LeTv in China, Televisa and TV Azteca in Mexico, BT Sport in the UK and Setanta Sports in Australia.
Whilst Mexico and the USA have historically dominated the tournament, this year the top ranked team according to the FIFA Rankings is Costa Rica who lie in 14th place worldwide, ahead of Mexico (23rd) and the USA (27th). As usual the tournament presents tantalising opportunities for giant-killing, with two teams from outside the FIFA top-100 (Cuba 107th and Canada 109th) looking to upset the odds.
This year’s competition features 12 teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean and is played at 14 venues from Carson in the southwest to Foxborough in the northeast – with two games being played in Canada for the first time.
The 2015 edition of the Gold Cup is sponsored by Jarritos, Allstate, Delta Air Lines, Sprint and Mexican wireless telecommunications company Telcel, along with Scotiabank which is a CONCACAF partner.
