Football DataCo revamps bet monitoring with Genius and Perform partnership

November 14 – Football DataCo, the official data rights holder of English and Scottish football, has moved to increase its integrity provision via a combined deal with Genius Sports and Perform Group.

The deal will see a combination of Genius Sports and Perform’s bet monitoring systems that look for suspicious betting patterns in global betting markets.

The technology leader in the market is Sportradar with their fraud monitoring services. Football DataCo have opted for primarily UK-owned suppliers for their solution that upgrades their previous partnership with Genius.

The will build a new, wider scoped system than the current solution, with a press release saying “this new partnership will see all parties working together to develop a bespoke intelligence network.”

They will monitor 14 professional leagues and more than 5,000 matches per season.

Steven Burton, managing director of Genius Sports, said: “To be truly effective, any strategy against the growing threats of match-fixing and betting-related corruption must incorporate three key elements: technology, education and intelligence.”

While Genius are focussed on data technology, distribution and integrity services, the Perform business is more focussed on the fast delivery of content, with strong links to the betting business. They will create an intelligence database as well as deliver a series of educational workshops aimed at arming players, officials and league and club executives.

Jake Marsh, head of integrity operations at Perform Group, said: “The opportunity to be part of a new model for integrity provision and support is one that we believe can help best protect UK football.
