March 7 – Manchester City have signed former Premier League naming rights partner Barclays as the Club’s Official Banking & Credit Card Tour Partner in a regional deal. The Barclays logo will feature on the back of the team’s shirt during pre-season matches in the US this summer.
Barclays have had a relationship with the Premier League since 2001, but this is the first time the bank has partnered with a specific club sponsorship.
Ahead of the US tour, Barclays will run a series of Manchester City promotions and competitions, including hosting a series of football themed events for its customers in the cities that the City team will visit – the club have confirmed they will play sister team New York City FC in New York and will play in the International Champions Cup (ICC).
Barclays branding will appear on interview backdrops during pre-season player and manager interviews.
