Serie A hits crypto for second time with socios.com sponsorship

January 12 – Serie A has partnered with socios.com, deepening the blockchain-based fan token provider’s presence in Italian football further.

The fan engagement and rewards app that is enabled via the Chiliz blockchain, will become a headline sponsor of both the Italian Super Cup and the Italian Cup as well as a partner of the Italian league.

“With this agreement Lega Serie A proves once again to be ready to seize the opportunities offered by new markets, projected towards the future and innovation and careful to respond to the needs of fans around the world,” said chief executive of Lega Serie A Luigi De Siervo.

Previously, Serie A teamed up with cryptocurrency platform crypto.com to sponsor VAR and goal-line technology.

The terms for the new deal with socios.com were not disclosed.

“In 2021 we grew our network by over 500% and welcomed over a million new users to our platform,” chief executive of socios.com  Alexandre Dreyfus. “We’ve got bigger aims for the next 12 months, so we’re delighted to begin 2022 with this major announcement that further solidifies our commitment to the Italian sports industry.”

Socios.com is also the title sponsor of the Italian Women’s Cup.
