De Bruyne scores crypto deal with Phemex

August 8 – Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has become the official brand ambassador for cryptocurrency exchange Phemex.

“My interest in cryptocurrency has been growing for a while now and I am thrilled Phemex asked me to join forces with them,” said De Bruyne.

Founded in 2019, Phemex has rapidly become one of the biggest cryptocurrency platforms. De Bruyne will work across various projects with the brand, including the Phemex Citizen, which aims to educate families about crypto.

In football, partnerships between clubs or players and cryptocurrency platforms have spread like wildfire, but critics argue that the unregulated crypto markets are financially insecure places for investors who can’t afford losses, while the new form of crypto-based fan engagement (fan tokens) is simply a way to monetise the fan base.

De Bruyne has ties to other companies as well. He invested in Sports & Leisure Group, which produce artificial pitches, Therabody, a wellness technology company, and  BALLN.

“Along these lines, Phemex hopes to set a precedent and be the quintessential playmaker in the crypto business similarly like Kevin. We anticipate cooperation to exhibit how our comprehensive and easy-to-use platform empowers users to break through and break free in their financial journey,” said Phemex CEO Jack Tao.
