Premier League attendances: Seagulls flying high with Luton Town sell-out

August 15 – The first round of the 31st edition of the Premier League kicked off with clubs across the league in touching distance of reaching maximum capacity at almost every game.

Every team monitored over 95% attendance for the opening weekend, as the excitement built over the summer finally exploded.

Brighton topped the weekly attendance table with 99.9% stadium capacity as the Seagulls hosted Luton Town for their first ever top flight fixture in the Premier League era. The south coast side came out as 4-1 winners after a convincing performance over the 90 minutes, despite the absence of Chelsea-bound £115m midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Insideworldfootball attendance figures are taken from the official stadium capacities and the official match day attendances. No allowances are made for seat kills due to safety or media requirements.

Matchday 2 kicks off on Friday evening as Nottingham Forest face newly-promoted Sheffield United, both coming off the back of a loss from the opening weekend.
