October 2 – Concacaf has named Mexico as host for the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship which will be played at the Mexican Football Federation headquarters, in Toluca.
In 2022 Mexico hosted the 8-team Concacaf W tournament, with all games played in Monterrey.
The U17 tournaments will be the qualifier for the U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic 2024.
“We look forward to returning to Mexico for this important Concacaf women´s competition. This event will showcase the Confederation´s top U-17 women´s national teams as they compete for a berth at the FIFA U-17 Women´s World Cup 2024, a tournament that is greatly anticipated in our region as it will be hosted in the Dominican Republic”, said Concacaf General Secretary Phillipe Moggio.
The eight-team Group Stage will consist of the top two ranked nations, Mexico and the United States, and the six qualifying stage winners, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Panama, and Puerto Rico.
The top two teams in each group will go through to the knockout stage which will be played in a single-match direct elimination format, including Semifinals, Third-Place Match, and Final. The top three finishers will join the Dominican Republic (World Cup host) in the 2024 Women’s U-17 World Cup.
The official draw for the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship is scheduled for October 3, 2023.For the draw, the eight teams have been split into four pots according to their ranking as of September 2023:
Pot 1 (pre-seeded): Mexico (A1) and United States (B1)
Pot 2: Canada and Haiti
Pot 3: Costa Rica and Puerto Rico
Pot 4: El Salvador and Panama
