August 21 – UEFA will distribute more than €935 million of revenue from Euro2024 to its 55 member associations over the next four years.
A further €331 million of prize money has been awarded to competing nations while €240 million was given to clubs who released players for the tournament.
UEFA said the Euro 2024 disbursements via the HatTrick programme are a 21% increase on 2020 and a new high water mark for the solidarity fund.
Since its foundation in 2004, the HatTrick programme has distributed €2.6 billion via more than 800 projects.
UEFA said: “HatTrick investment is catalytic, opening the door for additional funding from the public and private sectors. Every €1 in EURO funds generates more than €3 in investment from governments, local authorities and clubs.”
The numbers were released in a UEFA Euro 2024 tournament summary that charted the record successes of the German finals.
Other notable numbers were the 2.7 million people who attended games in Germany, and the 6.2 million visitors to the 18 fan zones across the country – more than 190 nationalities were represented.
The cumulative live global TV audience reached an enormous 5.2 billion.
Marketed as a sustainable Euros, UEFA said free public transport schemes helped 81% of spectators use eco-friendly transport to get to stadiums. More than €32 million was invested in the tournament’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, including recruiting a team of 500 volunteers and sustainability managers at each of the 10 host venues.
The logistical effort saw UEFA’s team services unit servicing the 24 team base camps with 168 vehicles, 2,400 bibs and 180,000 drinks.
All backed up by 16,000 volunteers and the 800-strong EURO 2024 GmbH workforce.
“The feelings of unity, pride and joy generated by the EURO are harder to measure but no less significant, and will live long in the memory too,” said UEFA.
