English FA launches commercial sustainability strategy for third and fourth tiers

August 13 – The FA Womens National League (FA WNL), that administers the third and fourth tiers of the women’s game in England, has released its new strategy, aiming to shape the future and direction of the league over the next three years – under the title ‘Where Our Game Grows’.

The plan, announced this morning, spans four key strategic pillars: environment, people, impact and commercial. These have all apparently been identified under the overarching vision of “championing growth, elevating performance and building identity”.

Last season saw league attendances grow and visibility of the league increase. The strategy comes at an important time with sights set on capitalising on the wider growth of the women’s game post Euro-2025 and the Lionesses win.

At the core of the strategy is a focus on commercial sustainability and attracting new partners to the game.

Sue Hough, Chair of the FA Women’s National League Board, said: “We saw sustained growth throughout the previous strategy but now it’s time to step things up as we look to grow the profile and reach of the league and leverage the commercial opportunities within the women’s game.
“The Women’s National League is ‘Where Our Game Grows’ – it’s the connection between the professional game and our grassroots players. Over the next three years we will ensure we offer our people, both on and off the pitch, the best environments to enable them and the league to thrive.”

Nick Frith, Head of the Women’s Football Pyramid at The FA, added: “From enhancing club governance and championing progressive pathways to building partnerships and supporting clubs to unlock new revenue streams, we are focused on building a sustainable, inclusive and innovative league.”
