Bulgaria’s fast growing FC Fratria plans relocation to a new city and a stadium rebuild

October 6 – Bulgarian second-division club FC Fratria has announced that it has signed a 30-year lease agreement for the use of the Dimitar Vatev Stadium (pictured) in the town of Beloslav, located 20 km from Varna, its current home.

The club’s management said they are planning a large-scale development which includes the complete reconstruction of the stadium and the installation of floodlights. Currently, negotiations are underway between Fratria, the Ministry of Sport, and the Municipality of Beloslav. The Dimitar Vatev Stadium has a current capacity of 6,000 seats.

FC Fratria was founded in 2021 by Russian businessman Viktor Bakurevich, who owns the Berezka chain of stores operating in Bulgaria and Romania. Berezka also serves as the club’s general sponsor. In its short history, Fratria has rapidly climbed to the second tier of Bulgarian football and makes no secret of its ambitions for promotion to the top division, the efbet League.

The Fratria management released a statement outlining their long-term plans.

“We have leased the stadium in Beloslav for 30 years – this is the start of a major and long-term project. Our plans are to turn it into the official home stadium of Fratria. We are currently in active negotiations with the Ministry of Sport and the Municipality for the construction of floodlights – a crucial step that will allow us to host evening matches and training sessions,: said the statement.

“Once this issue is resolved, we will begin the phased restoration of the stands and all necessary infrastructure. This is a contribution to the development of sports in our town and a stable base for the team for many years to come. We thank everyone who supports us – together we will transform the stadium into a place where victories are born! Stay tuned for more news – something very important and interesting is coming.”
