October 15 – Fast-growing UK-based football media business Footballco has appointed BAFTA and Emmy-winning producer and director Grant Best to lead the company’s expansion into premium long-form video and talent-led storytelling.
Best (pictured left) joins Footballco after more than three decades in global sports broadcasting, including at ESPN, where he served as Senior Executive Producer for Original Content and Live Events.
At Footballco, Best will serve as Executive Producer, leading the creation of new long-form projects and talent-led productions, and will be tasked with growing Footballco’s premium video output across its brands, which collectively attract over one billion monthly video views.
This expansion builds on Footballco’s rapid growth, driven by the acquisition and development of fan-first brands such as Front Three and Fanzone in the UK, 1vs1 in Italy, and Yalla GOAL in the Middle East.
James Lemon, EVP of content and operations, said: “As we’ve seen with the success of Drive to Survive and Welcome to Wrexham, long-form sports storytelling is redefining how fans engage with sport. Grant’s unparalleled experience in global broadcasting and storytelling will be instrumental in taking Footballco’s premium content to the next level.”
Best added: “Footballco already leads in engaging fans through editorial, entertainment, and storytelling. I’m excited to build on that success and create video projects that grip global audiences with the drama, culture, and emotion that only football can deliver.”
